About

Simon Fry NDD, ATD: Bournville School of Art, Birmingham College of Art and Design. Art Teacher in various secondary schools in the Midlands, England. I took early retirement and work from my home and studio in South Warwickshire.

Interests: all aspects of the visual arts; Shakespeare; Japanese gardens; travel; almost anything to do with Italy; jazz, classical music, classic rock and ambient music.

Influences: prehistoric cave painting, Italian Renaissance masters, anatomy, Rembrandt, Turner, Degas, Surrealism, Rodin, Francis Bacon, Jim Dine, Figure sculpture, anyone who can draw well.

I enjoy the challenge of teaching myself to succeed in new ventures, developing techniques to suit those challenges. Soft pastel on prepared paper is my favourite medium for its speed and versatility. Oil and acrylic on canvas or panel comes a very close second.
